Carol Claremont on Aug 08, 2015Birds - and, in my case, it was one of my dogs. I finally caught her up in the raised bed - she would eat them off the plants and also get them off of the kitchen counter after I had washed them. I bet one summer, she ate at least 50 before we found out a way to keep her out of the bed. By the way - the raised wooden beds are two feet high and had big tomato cages that my son made or me - not the flimsy ones you buy in the store - the dog was 9 or 10 year old Lab mix with horrendous hip displasia (vet's words). she still found a way to get to them. Her name is Angel but that summer, we seriously thought about changing it.Helpful Reply

Carrie Tait on Aug 08, 2015I would come out every morning and one or two of the tomatoes I wanted to pick would have bites out of them. Finally, one morning I was watching out the window and saw what looked like a "large" beaver- except that it had a fluffy tail. I went out the door and it ran off. Sure enough, there was a half eaten tomato. My son happened to come by and told me it was a Marmot. I thought he was kidding, but looked it up and sure enough- that's what it was.Helpful Reply

Lila Fritschen on Aug 08, 2015We finally found our guilty party--our Sheltie comfortable under the tomato "tree" happily chomping away on the underside of a beautiful tomato. Until then, we couldn't figure out how the bottom of the tomatoes were being eaten,Helpful Reply
