Ideas for corner porch posts?

We just purchased this adorable little reverse ranch, but I really think the porch needs something to add a little pizazz!!! Any suggestions??

How about large columns that would match the house better. Go on houzz for porch ideas, It gives great inspirations. Once done dress the rest up with plantings.

Just box-in face the metal posts, paint white, but use treated lumber at bottom as a larger box for the post. Do not make them too bulky as the house trim is slight, just enough to cover and about 1/2-3/4" thick. Total DIY cost, about $200 and two days work. $800-1000 contractor.

Oh, and then keep your porch bench, swing, chair, planters or whatever also white. Color only with plantings or slight accents.

What a cute house Lynn. Congratulations on your purchase! Having a new home is so exciting. If this were our home I would cover them and maybe add some railing as shown in the drawing I did, shown below.

If you plant climbing rose, and have patience, they, or any other preferred climbing plant , will fill it in, add color, and a nice welcoming fragrance, you and you visitors will enjoy. I would however recommend avoiding English Ivy, Honeysuckle,l or Wisteria. They will spread uncontrollably, and will cause damage to your house. My adopted sister rented a house, that had a patio, with an outdoor kitchen. They put up lattice behind the cooking area, and across the top, and planted grapes of the darkest purple, and let them climb and fill in across the top patio lattice as well. You could sit out on the patio even on the hottest days, and remain cool, while enjoying the smell, and eating the grapes. It not only looked great, but smelled, and tasted wonderful.

Lots of easy to install column wraps. Most are composite materials. http://versatex.com/versawrap

Cute house Lynn!! Love Becky's Visual. I would put the railings on the side, too. And add some nice plants that can survive your winter. I would love to see more of your cute house!

@Thank you Lou Ann. That's what I meant, but I didn't draw them in because then it would have muddled the look of the front railing.

Cute cottage possibilities. I would paint the railings white and add a rocking chair or small bench to match.

White rod iron and then some punch of color with chair, planter, or something to pop. Maybe next year add climbing plant at front corners can't tell if enough dirt to plant something like celmaitis that would climb and bloom

I think framing in the metal posts with cedar wood would change the entire look and make the porch more impressive. Interested to see what you come up with.
