Valerie on Aug 23, 2015First of all, would it be possible for you to load some photographs so that we can visualise what you are dealing with? Think of it as a blank canvas. I would start with pathways and get the formal structure out of the way, and only then think of adding plants.Helpful Reply

Diane F on Aug 23, 2015get a piece of paper and map it out. . once you have it on paper, it should be easier to plan what to do. garden paths, stump/trees to remove privacy fencing. other structures and then call on friends to donate certain plants from their yards.Helpful Reply

Cg Witherell on Aug 23, 2015I feel your pain. My husband inherited property that had been neglected for over 25 years. The house was in horrible condition, and the landscaping was no exception! I started by removing the obvious...things that just didn't belong. WEEDS! Someone had a plan at one time and it started to show. Here's an idea for some (or one) of those tree stumps; http://www.lowes.com/creative-ideas/lawn-and-garden/tree-stump-container-garden/article. Perhaps this could become a focal point.Helpful Reply

Janet Pizaro on Sep 01, 2015Once you start it wont be that bad. There are many websites for ideas. HGTV Better Homes and gardens, Fine gardening etc. Keep everyone posted. If you need further advice post another question. I love a challenge. Obviously I have an acre of property that I am constantly redoing.Helpful Reply
