IKEA Rast Dresser Hack

I love a challenge. The opportunity to hack this IKEA Rast dresser into anything I wanted came my way and I decided to turn it into something I could use as well as something that was great to look at.
The Rast dresser starts out a simple all wood pine box. I added some new pine to build it up and out that added some details and some heft.

I started with an ambitious sketch and wasn't sure what would make it into the final hack and what would have to be scratched.
Everything I wanted from the sketch was able to be incorporated into the final dresser. Sides were trimmed out, grooves were cut in the pine, and a new top was added along with some old trim pieces from the garage. Only a couple new boards were needed to craft the new details.
The top drawer was removed and the front panel was turned into the shelf. New side trim allowed the drawers to be recessed enough that doors could be added.
Chair arms from two captains chairs were turned into legs and a shelf of new pine was added at the bottom. A combination of stain and paint created the look I hoped to achieve.
