Rustic Wooden Pumpkins

I love decorating for fall. It's so easy and fun to put together a vignette using mums, pumpkins and fall leaves. Here's something else to add to your display.... rustic wooden pumpkin. They are a great decor item for both inside or outside on your porch (as long as it's covered). They are easy to make too!
I used reclaimed tongue and groove wood for my project but you can use plywood or planks from your local home improvement store. Simply glue the boards together, draw a pumpkin shape and cut out using a jigsaw.

I stained both sides of the pumpkin and painted only one side with Annie Sloan's Barcelona Orange. It was the perfect shade of pumpkin orange! Note, don't paint the stem. You want to leave it the brown stain color. Then I scuffed up the edges and front with light grit sandpaper.
They make a great fall display when combined with mums.
They can be used indoors too, of course!

Glenna Kennedy on Sep 09, 2015I also use a hand held jig saw. My hubby showed me a trick to keep it from moving while cutting. Clamps!!! Clamp it to your tabletop/workbench. It works so much better and no vibrating.
