Bobbie-A Vision To Remember on Aug 28, 2015we built a firepit similar to what you are describing. We didn't cement the blocks together. They fit well together and are sturdy so we decided not to. Hope that helps!Helpful Reply

Betty Miller on Aug 28, 2015First clear the area of grass and put down layer of sand or something that drains well and protect from fire spreading. Other wise first rain you will have small pond mud puddle. Need to allow for air and drain from bottom of bricks if you cement. Just put fire pit in search on this site you will find lots of plans and ideas. Design just depends how much time you want to put into it. Lots of cute ideas here even tops to put on to protect from rain and repurpose as table when not in use.Helpful Reply
