My white kitchen cabinets have been cracking and peeling. I have over thirty doors and drawers... too expensive to resurface and paint. How can I use the Vintage Decor Paint to update/disguise my problem?

We used Gripper paint and then a nice paint color to paint our cabinets. It was not expensive at all. We cleaned up the old hardware and reattached them.

I'm in the same situation with my cabinets. Hoping for a way to distress them so I don' have to re-paint.

Gripper paint is sold in most hardware stores, maybe walmart too.It is a primer paint that grips to the surface of the item you want to paint, before you paint it.Several brands of primer, one is called gripper. All primers have the same purpose,to prepare the surface for paint.

We had press board cupboard doors. I wall papered them with bead-board look wallpaper and painted them with white epoxy paint & antiqued them (to bring out the bead board look) with almond colored stain. (To protect the wallpaper and doors. It worked great and makes our cupboards look very nice.

@janny, my idea is a bit outside the box and doesn't include using Martha's version of chalk paint, but it should work quite well for you. You've got a natural wear look going so you've a great start for this idea. 1. Lightly sand the areas to remove any loose paint. 2. Buy some Meltonian shoe polish in the color of your choice. It has the most pigment of creme shoe polish available. They even have red if you'd like to go that way. http://www.amazon.com/Meltonian-Shoe-Cream-Polish-Colors/dp/B00KUREWCA 3. Using your finger (wear latex gloves) rub the shoe polish over the worn areas wiping off any excess. 4. Let completely dry. If your cabinet paint peels more, just add more polish. It will have the distressed appearance that your cabinets were once red, where repainted white that is now chipping off like the popular chalk paint look without all the work of redoing them all. Of course you can chose any color shoe polish.
