After painting the wall behind my refrigerator I moved it back and tore the linoleum. Guess what hardwood floors! Now once I take the linoleum up how do I get that tacky glue off the floors?

I have some spots of adhesive on our dark cherry hardwood floor. It came from a few of our sticky felts that we had for our recliner. Evidently it got turned upside down and was stuck to the floor. How can I remove the adhesive w/out damaging the fnish?

Try lighter fluid but be careful it's flammable. You might have to do it over and over to get it all off. After make sure you clean with soap.

Good Morning Cheryl and Stacy. Are the floors real old, meaning is there a chance of asbestos? Is so test it. I would be afraid that a chemical remover may soak into my hardwood floors so before trying that I would work a small area by pouring very boiling water on the adhesive. Let it sit for five or ten minutes and when the adhesive is loose, use a small floor scraper to remove the adhesive. This may vary likely work for Stacy better because of small spots. As for Cheryl, if the hot water does remove the adhesive, you may need to use a large floor scraper to remove, then be prepared to have to re-sand your wood floors, re-stain, and then re-seal them. Hope it all works out. Good Luck
