Janet Pizaro on Sep 01, 2015I have not but there are options available instead of grass. You need to research you hardiness zone first. There are new plants called stepables. They do not require mowing but endless possibilities.Helpful Reply

Barb on Sep 01, 2015I have done a lot of research but not come up with anything. I won't be happy if it looks like I have a yard full of flowers and I imagine our neighbors wouldn't like it either. I have not heard of stepables. I will look it up right away. Thanks!Helpful Reply

Tammy on Sep 01, 2015Our friends planted clover instead of grass, not sure how it would withstand your weather in Minnesota but it works great here in canada :) Good LuckHelpful Reply

MerriJane Hayes on Sep 02, 2015If you want it to look like grass, I was told about buffalo grass is supposed to be a good lawn substitute, less water and maintenance. Can be mowed or left to look like meadow. Creeping thyme is a good lawn substitute that doesn't need mowed.Helpful Reply

Liliana Wells on Sep 06, 2015I don't have an answer. But my husband's view is if it's green, it's grass. Yes, he has to mow it, but i's beautiful. Of course, if you live in a fancy, structured subdivision, the HOA may not like the look.Helpful Reply

Barb on Sep 06, 2015Love your husbands attitude, Liliana! We do have an HOA (Not a fancy sub division, tho) so are going to have to check our rules before we decide on anything.Helpful Reply
