What will stick to melamine?

B. Enne on Sep 02, 20151-Lightly sand or use liquid sandpaper and steel wool. 2- Clean well. 3- Use a high adhesion primer VERY IMPORTANT. Like Zinsser BIN or Kilz or any good quality primer. I prefer to use the traditional BIN with shellac (alkyd/oil based), it take 45 minutes to recoat...I like to leave it double the time. 4- Recoat with a good quality acrylic/latex paint. I have done this many times. Don't skimp on the primer...I have and it isn't worth the time to recoat. I also do not like 2-in-1 primer and paint for melamine or paneling either.Helpful Reply
