Home Depot sells privacy fence panels. I made an area for my trash cans and even put a gate up to enclose the whole thing, worked great!

use pallets. I used 2 placed in an "L" shape, for a corner "trash can corral, Screwed feet to the bottom for stability. Works great.

Pallets for the time being and then make a small investment in a gate custom built. It is a small opening and you sound as though you have an area to walk in beside the fence and the garage. You may be storing other items back there. It would help with the visual and the practical solution. You can find building instructions online and most gates are not complicated. And like the other woman said they sell pre made panels. You will need proper gate hardware, they sell that reasonably priced at most hardware stores. If you do this don't forget the tension rod that adjusts. It helps support the gate and will prevent it from warping. If all this sounds too expensive remember it is a item that when you get it broke down per year will last for dollars per year, not hundreds, and will give you much return should you choose to sell. It is a good thing!

Lattice. My husband and I used lattice for a small back yard fence at a house we rented. We used metal fence post and attached the lattice with wire. It was pretty and easy to move with us - and inexpensive.

Snag a cheap baby crib at a yard sale. Bed ends (or sides) make quick, sturdy fence and gate pieces.
