Workerbee on Sep 05, 2015We added a ventless gas fireplace last year. It works very well, it puts out a lot of heat. Check with your building codes, we are not allowed to put ventless in bedrooms.Helpful Reply

Thebakers47 on Sep 05, 2015Think about a direct vent fireplace. We have a ventless in our front room it is worst smell it's awful. I have friends that have the same issues. The direct vent can be placed on the outside wall and vented out the wall. My cousin has two, one in the great room and one in her bedroom it's great. I hope we can change ours over to direct vent.Helpful Reply

Barbara Loper on Sep 05, 2015We have had two for years and have been pleased. Love the vent-free fireplace - so what if the ceiling needs to be painted still would not give up the fireplace. No odors.Helpful Reply

Kim on Sep 05, 2015I've had three different ones. One was cans that you light sort of like sterno, one that was electric that mounted to the wall ( I was thinking I could put it into the wall but that wasn't possible) and then we have a gas fireplace with chimney that you have to buy propane for from an outside company. All three have had its pros and cons. The best one is the one with the propane tank for actually giving off heat ( but expensive to fill the tank )The other two were more for looks and didn't give off much heat ( as much as a candle).Helpful Reply
