I live in a basement apartment that gets little to no light. What's the best way to provide light for plants that require full sun?
Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!

There are plant lights available at your local lowes or home depot.

It isn't the most attractive solution, but can you hang a fluorescent light fixture? I use several, with T5 bulbs, when germinating seeds for planting.

I also use fluorescent lights over my workbench in the basement. I have them on a timer to be on all day and shut off in the evening.

You don't have to use special fluorescent bulbs just the cheap ones will work but you do need to change the bulbs every year because they do dim as they age.

I understood that the T5 has the best light spectrum for plants...is this true?

One year I put a floor lamp in the corner and got a grow-bulb for it. Got it at Lowe's I think. Then I clustered some plants on the floor around the lamp....wasn't ideal but kept the plants going until spring. If you want plants for your end table, ask what sort of bulbs you need...remember the lights for the plants will have to be on most or all day.

I use Florescent gro lights. You can GE the bulbs in any hardware store.

Half and half 'daylight' bulbs from hardware store and specialty grow spectrum available online. The first is cheap and the second more pricey, so it evens out and you don't get as much over that vibrating zazzle in your eyes. Use an on/off timer. I do this for my orchids - all types - and I get lots of blooms with essentially no natural sunlight.

I tell lots of folks, I got my best gardening advice from Pot Growers! Works for lots of plants, especially tomatoes and such! LOL!
