Victoria McMackin on Sep 06, 2015Some consider it a weed, however it really is part of the grain family. Alone, there isn't much produced to really do anything with it.. maybe add to a loaf of bread. Left alone it will set seed and you will find tons and tons next year. Not sure if you want that or not. I have a patch in my garden that I am sowing purposely for the seeds. Mine is the "loves lies bleeding" variety. Course, it didn't stay put and it took over many of my other beds.Helpful Reply

Jaime on Sep 06, 2015Also known as "Love Lies Bleeding". Amaranth. It can grow up to 4 - 6 feet tall and will have long burgandy flowers dangling from it. I leave mine in the garden and it will reseed itself for next year. (Zone 3) If you search Amaranth, you will see what I mean about the flowers. Beautiful in the fall.Helpful Reply
