Roses

I used banana peel to fertilize. I heard this from my son-in-law who is a Master Gardener, then read it on Hometalk. As my roses had been looking sad the past couple of years I was ready to try anything. See 1 mo. results.

Design & Décor: What can I do with this ceiling?

The old, quality paneling came from my husband's great aunt's house, which is slated to be destroyed. What can I do with the plain, boring sheetrock ceiling to complement the walls, yet not darken the room any more? Oh, and the door needs something, too. It's the same white as the ceiling.

  • This is the finished bench. The colors remind me of a gypsy wagon. I toiled over the colors for a year and finally was inspired by the color on a plastic tumbler. I took it to the lumber yard and they matched the color. 23
  • This is the bed how I bought it from the thrift store for $35.00.
  • This is the bed with the footboard turned upside down and it fashioned into a bench before the painting started. 3
  • Got it all sanded and primed and still had no idea what color it was going to be. 1
  • First color. Deciding what should be what color was the fun part!

  • Some of the details include copper sinks and taps, granite countertops with a 'leather' finish and natural tin ceiling. Also, no upper cabinets, backsplash is 'v' groove paneling and countertops are 30" deep on this wall. 12

  • This little crate contraption stores 6 rolls, pyramid style. Not bad!
  • Simply screw the licence plate onto the crate, then screw it to the wall from the inside, and you're done! Instant funky little cabinet, junk style.
  • Sealing the license plate with a clear spray sealer would be a good idea. I simply chose to have the bottom row of rolls remain in their packages.
  • It functions awesome and looks pretty cool. And is rustic enough to please the junkiest junker. :) 2

Crate storage for 'the necessities in life'. :)

We all have the same issue. Where do we store the extra toilet paper? It needs to be within reach but how can we do it in a cool way? ...»

My own answer came by simply screwing a rusty old licence plate onto an old crate, attach it to the wall, and voila, you're all set! Doesn't get much easier (or cooler) than this. :)
