About Me:

I am professionally trained in Architecture and Environmental Design as well as Botany - I studied at Kent State University in Ohio. I currently live in Orlando, Florida and work with the design and construction industry helping them implement computer aided design software into their businesses. I enjoy the arts, organic gardening, cooking and entertaining.

Favorite area of home improvement:

Besides my personal space and it's landscaping, I enjoy being in an eco-friendly environment that 'speaks' who and what I am, is visually and spiritually interesting as well as inviting. I love to be influenced and surrounded by the basic elements of life; air, water, fire, etc.

  • Borax is a natural laundry booster because of it's unique ability to clean, by converting some water molecules to hydrogen peroxide.
  • The high alkalinity of washing soda helps it act as a solvent to remove a range of stains. Also adding Fels-Naphta helps eliminate residual stains. It works as a stain remover, for tough stains

Homemade laundry detergent and why it works so well

Homemade laundry detergent is all the rage these days but do you ever wonder if it really works? I love the idea of homemade laundry detergent, that costs a fraction of the price but I ...»
want to know that my clothes are actually getting clean, before I jump on the bandwagon!

The 4 basic ingredients of homemade laundry detergent are Borax, Arm & Hammer Washing Soda, Arm & Hammer Baking Soda and Fels-Naptha bar soap. I also added Oxi Clean and doTERRA Wild Orange essential oil, to give it a little extra cleaning power, and a delicious citrus scent. Check out my full post to see how/why each of the ingredients work to create the best, most effective laundry detergent. Click here: http://askannamoseley.com/2013/05/the-best-h...

Edit: This detergent can be used in a front loading washing machine, there are instructions if you click on the link above. It is also safe to use if you have a septic system, I researched all of the individual ingredients and they are all safe to use. My sister has been using this for years on her septic system and she has never had any problems.

  • Take your light and check it out closely as some are different. 1
  • By the bulb you should see some small screws
  • Remove the screws and SLOWLY pull the pieces apart. You will then see a normal, everyday, single AA battery. Yep, that is what gets charged by the sun during the day so that it glows at night! 2
  • Change the battery out with a new one and...Let there be light! 2
  • Now, if you have a different type of light, say like this one from WalMart, with the globe on top, it gets even easier to replace the battery.
  • Kathe With An E~DIY Fix Your Solar Lights
Simply pull the stake out and you will see this on the globe end.
  • One single screw. Leave the three screws by the bulb alone.
  • And there is your battery. Change it out, put the screw back in and you are done!

When growing up, we had a tire planter - but the tire was just turned inside out, trimmed, and ...»
had a clay saucer for the "bottom" inside the planter. It was clever way to cover the septic tank lid!
