I'd always heard that bones shouldn't be used in a garbage disposal -- or at least that's what my instruction manual says! :) But then it says not to use fruit peelings either and I grind lemon peelings in mine all the time. Works like a charm, so I guess.. who cares about the manual? :)

There is also a foaming cleaning agent that can be purchased in the cleaning section of your local grocery that seems to work well.
