About Me:

I'm a DIY girl living in a rural wooden cottage. Loving the country/farm life and trying to bring Vinnord, my home, back to life from a 90's decorating disaster. I bought the place in 2008, and I still have rooms to tackle.

Favorite area of home improvement:

Kitchens are my favorite I think :) Or simple DIY projects for a weekend or a day.

  • the horrible before :) I never understood why the former owner wanted to put the sofa in front of those gorgeous windows!!?! What was she thinking?!??
  • a new light filled living room... The chair doesnt normally sit in front of the tv. But for some reason it ended up there in the photo....
  • My reading chair :) and hand made shelves from dad.
  • the sofa set is from the 60's I think. Unfortuantly it is very worn and I hope to some day have it re-upholstered. The art above the sofa is fairytale creatures by Tony DiTerlizzi from the book "Arthur Spiderwick's Field Guide"
  • jus another view of the sofa
  • details in teh window... my frog prince.
  • and another detail... birdcage with greens and hanging skelleton keys.

Before & After of the livingroom

the living room was yet another dark den at the cottage. Even with the huge windows, it seemed dark and nightmare-ish to me... like a horror flick from the 90's :) ...»

So I painted it the same very light green as the diningroom, and accented it with fairytale whimsy, an old sofa ect ect. I wanted it to feel alittle like a fairytale garden :)

Once again, all the furniture was found 2nd hand at fleamakrkets og craigs list type places :) Or hand me downs from friends & family...

  • The "new" look. I wanted a timless farm-country-cottage feel. And I think I achived it too. All my furniture are 2nd hand from family or fleamarkets. I have just painted or cleaned it. Depending on the state of the item.
  • doorway into the dining room 2
  • the old stove is still there :) 1
  • the fridge and coffee nook :) I have a bigger fridge for storing food in the basement. But this one serves me well on a day to day basis.

Before & After of my kitchen

When I moved into Vinnord, the kitchen was horribly yellow, orange and brown! And had been extremely cluttered when the past owner had it... It needed some serious tlc. I painted the ...»
walls a pistachio green, added new cabinets from Ikea, and changed the floor. It is still "cluttered" in many ways, but so much more soothing to the eye :) One of my favorite rooms in the cottage.
