$25 Refurbished Dresser

This dresser, although quite old, was in pretty fantastic shape. After a good cleaning and sanding of the body of the piece, I painted everything but the drawers in Martha Stewart's Glass ...»
of Milk and lightly distressed. I then washed the drawers with some Murphy's Oil Soap. Everything got a good coat of wax to protect it. I left the hardware (which I love) as is.

Updating with Black Paint & Burlap

This $5 craigslist side table needed a quick sanding, a coat of black paint and a little finishing wax. The chair was another simple makeover since the piece was structurally very sound. ...»
I did one coat of black paint and distressed to give an aged appearance. I then upholstered with burlap (I folded the fabric in half first so that there was no space between the wide weave of the fabric). I upholstered right over the original fabric because I could feel that it was stuffed with straw (it is a super old chair) and I just didn't want to deal with that.

Planter with Moss & Bark

A walk around the neighborhood is the perfect opportunity to collect samples of nature to craft with. Check out this simple project I recently made. I just, secured bark to terracotta pot with twine (I used a rubber band first to keep everything secure.) Then, planted the moss and watered well.

Real Life With White Slipcovers & Tips on Keeping Them Pretty

Recently, I shared my Family Room Makeover & you all left they nicest comments, thank you! I had recieved many questions that I tried my best to answer.Lots of questions about my ...»
sectional so I thought I would post about it.

When my husband & I finally decided to buy a NEW sectional for our family room last fall, we knew we didn't want to blow the entire budget on it for a few reasons.1. We had bought 2 expensive down sofas when we first got married and we ended up giving them away. To make slipcovers was going to cost way too much, between the fabric & labor and I certainly did NOT have the patience to make them myself:).2. We have 2 young boys and a dog, need I say more:). So we went to IKEA to look for sofas.I knew it would be a good first experience with a WHITE slipcover sofa, since the risk was low if it didn't work out, since the price was so reasonable.A few trips later we came home with this sectional.

For more info follow link below to my blog, I give tips on how to keep it looking pretty , as well as tips for cleaning it.

A Primitive Table Gets a New Lease on Life

I've been MIA from Hometalk recovering from feeling under the weather and then catching up on projects for clients. But I'm back! And with one of my favorite before and afters I've had ...»
the privilege to work on. A client brought an old, damaged farm table to me to refurbish. It had been built by a member of her family and was a sentimental piece for her. At first glance, it looked beyond repair. In fact, my husband thought I was crazy to even bother working on it. But with a lot of elbow grease, care and patience and of course, paint, I was able to turn the broken table into a sturdy and unique coffee table. Lots of pics and details of how I did it are on the blog! #mycurrentproject http://www.storywooddesigns.com/2013/03/01/a...
