My Favorite Room in the House~ My French Cottage Inspired Bedroom

Our house is a 1940's vintage cottage~ with knotty pine walls & hardwood floors. About 5 years after we moved into our cottage~ we built a master bedroom. I designed it to blend in with ...»
the original house- with beadboard, hardwood floors & corner windows- which each of the 4 original bedrooms had . We did nearly all the work ourselves and I absolutely love how it turned out. It is one of my favorite rooms because it has so much sunshine streaming in and I love the french doors leading out to the backyard. More of my bedroom decorated for Christmas at my blog~ http://frenchcountrycottage.blogspot.com/201...

  • The finished piece
  • Used old coffee sacks for the sides and IKEA curtain fabric for the top.
  • Supplies used:
two coordinating fabrics - one for the top and one for the sides
-large upholstery tacks
-tacky glue (or fabric glue)
-hammer
-screw driver
-pliers
-duct tape
-paint for the legs
  • I wanted to use the actual stitched sides of the coffee sacks for the ottoman's corners but in doing so, the corners seemed to poke out... they were a bit bulky. To solve that problem, I used tacky glue and duct tape to calm them down.

Coffee Sack Ottoman

A tired dirty ottoman was transformed into this fun piece for under $7 by reusing the upholstery tacks from the original piece and wrapping it in fabric that was sitting in my fabric stash.
