Repurposing our dining room buffet into a bathroom vanity

Earlier this year we remodeled our master bath. We turned our "old" unused dining room buffet into our "new" vanity. It got a distressed paint job, repainted hardware, reconfigured ...»
drawers, and a vessel sink for the transition. We love repurposing furniture and are very happy with the way it turned out. For complete details about the project, visit my blog post at http://postcardsfromtheridge-angela.blogspot... #recycle #repurpose #upcycled furniture

  • A cupboard door was taken off for open shelving on each end of the upper cupboard and 4 drawers became baskets on one side of the sink and 4 drawers became an area for a dishwasher on the other side of the sink. 3

  • A close up of the finished floor, it almost looks like old leather. 15
  • I did the whole 10 X 12 room for about $80, but any future room will cost about $30. That's cheap flooring! 11
  • Gluing the paper down using a 50% Elmers glue %50 water mixture. This part took forever. 10
  • Here is the paper going on, this is about 10 hours in (spread over multiple days). 6
  • Mopping on the stain. 6
  • After 12 coats of poly! I know people say this all the time, but it honestly look much better in real life. It just looks shiny in the pictures. 8

Paper Bag Floors

If you are in need of new flooring but don't have much money to spend (or even if you do) then this fits the bill! I created this floor out of brown paper, Elmers glue, stain and ...»
polyurethane. It was easy to do (albeit time consuming) and is very durable. This room is 10 X 12 and cost about $80, but future rooms will cost about $30 since I have plenty of leftover supplies. • My budget solution to my screen porch floors ...white washed & distressed.
  • Here are the floors before. When I started my low budget porch makeover I had to have a super cheap way to brighten up the existing floors... 3
  • First I sanded and cleaned the floors. Then using semi-transparent wood stain from The Home Depot, I sprayed on the stain...but I wasn't thrilled. So I took a rag and wiped some of the stain back off... 2
  • Kinda looked like driftwood!
I know some of you won't like this, I understand it's a bit different. :) 3
  • But I'm happy with the way it turned out and I'm almost finished with the porch makeover! 2
  • A quick look at the table! My friends at Behr Paint suggested I use a soft turquoise called Opal Silk...turned out to be my new favorite color!
Have a great day my friends xo 2

White Washing & Distressing Porch Floor!

I'm doing a makeover on my screen porch and I'm doing it on a shoestring budget! The screen porch was built last year over a part of our existing deck and the floors were less than ...»
pretty. When pricing everything I wanted to do on the porch with almost no money, I decided to stain the floors in a semi-transparent white. When I got the stain on, I wasn't thrilled so I experimented with wiping a little of the stain off to give them a distressed look. Here's what I came up with! This isn't for everybody, some of you guys might not like it-I understand, but I'm happy and I spent only $33.00 at Home Depot for the stain!
