Raised Bed Garden (Part 3) Dirt and Planting

This is the final step in our 3 part series of our Raised Bed Gardens. Join us over on our blog where we share how we mixed the soil, used some medium pebbles for the pathways and put down mulch as a final decorative touch.

Fairy Garden

This is my first attempt at a fairy garden. I think it still needs something. I'll have to give it some time to come to me. Can't wait to make more from ideas on other clips.

  • Our garden patio. 7

Our garden patio.

My husband and I removed old shrubs, covered the ground with a weed barrier, added river rock and stepping stones. The Bottle Brush tree attracts bees. The flowers we selected are both perennials and annuals that attract butterflies and hummingbirds. We are visited daily by a family of Cardinals. This is such a peaceful place to relax. :)

  • An old ironing board that I recently painted white makes a great out door vignette on the patio.
  • I plan to drill a small hole in the ironing board top to slip the hanger wire through so it won't blow off.
  • I used a laundry basket shaped container for the Rose Star Calibrachoa.

Pressing Garden Matters

I recently painted an old wooden ironing board to use on my patio in a vignette. #Summerstyle

May Garden ~ Birdhouses & Flowers

In looking around the garden, I see a theme has developed. It's all about the birds and flowers. With approximately one hundred birdhouses, I suppose my collection is now nearing ...»
intervention status! Some are decorative and some are functional with clean-outs, but long ago I found out the birds are the ones who decide which is which. A bossy little house wren has commandeered the gazebo garden where she and her hubby have taken up residence in a blue bird house, chasing any other birds who dare to come near.

Every new flower is an awaiting surprise and , as I stroll our garden, bird song greets me. A red fox streaked across the front lawn this early morning, probably from the cat food on our porch. We've had lovely rains and everything is an intense shade of spring green.

  • You'll need a wreath form, crepe paper, pinwheels and a hot glue gun.
  • Hanging out in the corner on the old shutter with the wagon and plants.
  • It ended up on the font door to welcome summer in.

A Fun Pinwheel Wreath

How about some fun memories from your childhood? I've created a fun pinwheel wreath to hang on our front door. Come on over to our blog and see how I did it! #SummerStyle
