Real Estate: Is it cheaper to buy an existing home or to buy a lot and build a house on it?

Definately with a weak housing market you can get a much better deal purchasing an existing home!

Remodeling: My husband and I have a 2 bedroom one bath condo and would like to re-do the bathroom.

However, if we re-do the flooring, we would have to take out the toilet which would make the whole house pretty much out of commission. Someone told me that new tile would take 24 hours ...»
to set (not to mention the demo time on the old tile). Is there a better alternative to staying away from home for a weekend? ALSO, I don't know if the existing vanity has tile under it, but if we take the vanity out and rip up the existing floor, should we tile underneath the new vanity? Thanks!!

It would be better to tile the entire floor because the vanity will not be too short in high. ...»
It also depends on the prep work you use on the floor to avoid loosing the high. The question is that if you are a tall person you will have to curve down too low but if you are short you should be fine.

Painting: What is the proper way to paint my cabinets white.

I don't know if they are wood, they are old and off-white with a wood trim. Suggestions?

I second that suggestion. It is really touch to match all of that up after the fact.

I live in a condo and constantly smell odors coming from my neighbors unit.

Is there anything I can use in the vents in my unit to cut down on me smelling everything he cooks etc.?

We can smell our neighbors cigarettes in the bathroom...condo living at it's finest. I got ...»
some wallflowers from bath and body works that are special "odor eliminators" in fresh cotton and they actually work quiet well.
