  • 1. The health of the soil IS the health of the plants. How's this for clay soil? Early on I couldn't stand to spend money on anything other than plants when I should have been investing in good soil and compost. 6

I have 5 horses and use a wood stall pellet for bedding which absorbs the moisture totally, it ...»
is similar to the wood burning pellets used for stoves. I clean every day and have a HUGE pile with a FREE MANURE sign on it.. behind the barn.. I have cars lined up all spring fighting over who is next ... to load it up.. I have asked them what they are using it for and all reply, Garden or Flower beds.. I use it in my flower beds during the fall and winter and it composts beautifully. My flowers are always growing like crazy. Horse manure is not hot like cow or chicken manure.

For those who have " hard" soil. check around for a horse stable or someone who has horses that clean their stalls.. I am sure they would LOVE to give you some. Easy to haul in buckets, or large heavy duty bags if you dont have a truck to load it into.

DIY Lotion Bars

What in the heck is a Lotion Bar? I had never heard of these before in my life until I pinned this from Little House in the Suburbs. Why would you even want to make a lotion bar when you have a Bath and Body Works close by? I mean, seriously, how can you beat their cucumber and melon lotion?

I made the bars.. using the shortening.. and they were too greasy.. so made more with the ...»
coconut oil (solid till heated), bees wax and almond oil. they turned out great. I did find some really cute forms at Jo Anns in their Candy making section. hearts, flowers and others.. also used the small little paper drinking cups filling them up about 1 inch only they made a perfect small size. I have a store here called Dollar store.. ( nothing over 1.00) they had some really cute boxes.. 12 in a pack for $1.00 in white in the bridal section and in the baby section cute ones in pink , lt blue and yellow.. all are 12 for $1.00 cant beat that.. they made little box type bags filled them with the shredded paper ( also $1.00 at the store) and put them in the small plastic bags.. also $1.00 for 25 of them.. Made a great gift for several of my friends for Valentines day this year, really decorates up the gift with the dollar store finds.. Thanks for sharing the recipe of these bars..

  • This is the Towel that I made, along with a matching place mat!
  • Step 1: Make a Mirror image of your transfer and have a toner based copy made of it. You will need to find an older copy machine, to find one with toner. Don't go to the big chains, they all use laser.
  • Step 2: Secure your image in place, by taping it to your Fabric. I used painters tape. Also, place something under it, that has little give to it, like cardboard or styrofoam.
