  • Downsizing from 33" - 24" menant more usable space. New single sink with, no window ( ; and a garbage disposal.
  • Reversed doors making it possible to no block the stair well with the entry door. 1
  • I chose a steel door with frosted & beveled glass. Easy to keep clean and I see rainbows on my cabinets on sunny days ( :
  • I downsized & modernized my stove at the same time - from a 30"-24" w/all the bells & whistles- More inches saved. No window, meant we could put in more cabinets & save counter space by building a shelves above the sink and stove.
  • My 1950's knotty pine built cabinets I finally ripped down in 2010.
  • Double cast Iron sink, double hung window over the sink, ( I couldn't reach to open with a view of my back yard neighbors house). They both just had to go!
  • Dark & dangerous doors. Entry door swung open to the left, people entering stepped up onto a landing that left them on the edge of the basement stair way. Two friends actually fell down them! I am sure you get the picture - by now --
  • I designed this myself - it is the second kitchen I have designed. My contractor and I worked together to customize, modernize, brighten and utilize every inch of floor and wall space.
  • Free standing stair well wall, w/Oak shelf. The opening allows you to see the entry and look through a window on the outside wall to the driver way and front yard gardens.
  • added wall cabinets to the top and bottom of the free standing wall, a back splash of marble and glass and a counter top made of black granite tile.........

Transformation - of a 1950's kitchen in to my dream kitchen -

Lived with this inefficient, eyesore for 20 years. A total of 6 upper, 2 lower cabinets, 0 drawspace, ironing board cupboard, broom closet empty door less space beneath a 12 in counter ...»
top. I installed make shift shelve in the later 3, just to be able to store things...ugh!!!!!!!

My "Old Man In The Tree"..

Bought a tree face, placed it on the part of the tree where a limb used to be, and then as if on cue, "hair" sprouted and started to grow. :)

  • I hung them on the wall and installed the brackets under them, so that they appear to rest on the bracket. 1
