  • The kitchen is long and has 2 very small windows originally. They were replaced with larger ones to allow more light to come in.
  • A cupboard door was taken off for open shelving on each end of the upper cupboard and 4 drawers became baskets on one side of the sink and 4 drawers became an area for a dishwasher on the other side of the sink. 3

French Country Cottage Kitchen

We love our 1940's vintage kitchen as it is now- but not so much how it was when it started out. We kept the original cupboards and character while updating it~ the ceiling fan became 2 ...»

The Most Awesome Leftover Labeling Tip

I love keeping my fridge organized and hate when food spoils. With a busy household, it can be hard to keep track of dates when food was prepared. One day, I had a thought, and it has ...»

  • So easy to do this! You don't even need elbow grease! http://www.thevspotblog.com/2011/07/cleaning-stove-burners-grates-best.html

An easy spring cleaning tip for one of the worst jobs in the house!

  • This bathtub is 30+ years old, and has seen many renters come and go before we bought our condo. It was stained, but didn't have any cracks or chips, so I decided to paint rather than replace.
  • The bathtub with it's new shiny bright white paint. I couldn't get the two drains off, so I just painted right over them. 1
  • The first coat of paint going on. You can see how dingy and drab the color of the tub was compared to the bright white paint. 2

DIY Painted Bathtub

I just finished painting my bathtub a couple of days ago. I used Rust-Oleum Tub & Tile Refinishing Kit, and it's still curing (you're not supposed to get water on it for three days), but ...»

  • The number one consideration when storing paint is to make sure the can is completely sealed to keep air out so the paint does not dry up.
  • Do not use a screwdriver to open the can if you expect to have leftover paint. A screwdriver can also distort the lid, preventing a good closure.

How to Store Paint

If you have leftover paint after a project, don't throw it out. Save it in case you need it in the future for touch-ups. It is important to store it properly so it will be useable down ...»

  • If this is a recurring problem and the staining is chronic, there may be no way to remove the stain as it may have etched itself into the porcelain.
  • Most staining is not that bad and can be successfully removed if you know how but regular toilet bowl cleaners or powdered chlorine based cleansers will not solve this problem. 1
