About Me:

On a break from the commercial construction world, I've decided to finally tackle some much needed DIY around my own home. Oh and I decided to blog about it too! Be sure to check out my site for full tutorials and funny stories about all things home improvement.

Favorite area of home improvement:

Deconstructive Design ~ break something existing down & build it back up beautifully with a renewed sense of purpose. Discard nothing. Create anything.

  • This was the entry of a client's home "before". Kind of boring.
  • The larger piece of furniture was just the right idea, plus lighting, and other accessorizing changed this whole space.
  • Fill a silver tray with bathroom decor.
  • Need extra lighting in your living room? Add a small table behind your couch.
  • I like to keep bedroom accessories simple and neat.

House Numbers

Since we are sharing address signs, I thought I would share my pinterest inspired house numbers. Three thrift store frames glued to greet treated plywood with oversized wooden numbers. Paint colors come from the house, sans white trim. Each frame is affixed to a cedar stake. Found the galvanized boiler at a yard sale and even though it was in immaculate condition, drilled drainage holes without any sense of guilt whatsoever.

Welcome Window Wreath?

"Decorate your home. It gives the illusion that your life is more interesting than it really is." -Charles Shultz ...»

I'm not quite sure what to call this project - like most projects it started with a couple of components (just the vintage hanger and the M initial) then quickly grew with the addition of the decorative metal screen from Hobby Lobby and vintage folding ruler to the final "window wreath."

Many thanks to MWHP (My Wonderful Hubby Phil) for brainstorming and hanging the window, when I kept saying that just the letter and metal screen needed more "bulk."

Wind Turbine Light Fixture

Instead of paying hundreds of dollars for a vintage wind turbine fan turned into a light fixture, I made my own with supplies from Lowe's.

Princess Dresser

My brother-in-law gave me their laminate dresser. With some good primer and paint and some cute pink spray paint I was able to transform it into an adorable princess dresser for my youngest daughter.

Fresh and Green - Flower Ad Dresser

I recently painted an old hand-made dresser a bright, fresh spring green and hand-painted a flower/bulb advertisement on the front to provide interest. The paint was then distressed and new hardware added for this dresser makeover!
