I would first use a mix of vinegar, and baking soda to make a paste. It will foam a little. Then scrub it on, and let it sit for 10 minutes. Then I would try using a magic eraser to get what ever is left behind.
Most of them are just held in place with clips. See if yours is removable and wash in sink.
Is is removable? Either way, try a paste of vinegar & baking soda, I use it to clean my oven. You can get a good cleaning brush at the dollar store that you can toss once you are done scrubbing it. Non-toxic and works great. Is that just dirt or is some of that rust? If you can get it clean of all the dirt and that is rust, just use a brillo pad to get all the loose rust off, prime w/a Kilz primer spray & then spray w/whatever color you choose. Will take a little bit of elbow grease but you won't have to do it again for years. :)
Thank you !!!!
The heads are better than one, I never thought the vent was removable, you guys are smart and probl solving was so simple, to hard for my mind, Thanks!!
I am able to take mine off. I fill a sink with some Dawn and hot water. I let it soak for about an hour, scrub and rinse. I also spray with a multipurpose cleaner each time I spray the fridge.
I pop mine out of the bracket and put it in the top of the dishwasher.
Thank, I have scrubbed and scrubbed with other spray on cleaners with no relief, gonna try this
Mine was plastic, held on with clips and I just popped it off and soaked/cleaned it in a bucket
they all pop off for repairs, first few times it might be hard.. I remove mine and place it in the BATH TUB with 2-3 inches hot hot water and DAWN and a splash of ammonia. Let it soak while I clean the rest of the frig, swish it around a bit, take a brush to a few spots if needed.. I've also used the FOAMING BATHROOM CLEANERS sprayed on them and put in the empty bathtub, .. to help keep them clean,,, SPRAY WITH a BIT of PLEDGE and wipe.. dust doesn't stick as easy.. ANOTHER TIP.... BUY a brush ( got mine @ SEARS repair store/outlet) designed to bend around under the frig motor.. KEEP THAT area CLEAN and the grill will stay much cleaner much longer too.
mine does come off, but it is a pain i always think i am going to break it but i never have lol it always comes off the i just put it in the sink spray it with cleaner let it sit and then use hose sprayer to rinse easy peasy xx
Use a Mr. Clean Sponge and then use Windex to remove the residue. You may want to paint over any rust that remains.
Take it off and wash in sink with hot water and soap .
First remove the grill. I spray it heavily with a good cleaner which contains bleach - Clorox. Let it sit a few minutes. I have a steam cleaner, so I use that and it gets in all the nooks and crannies. But before I had that, I would use a scrub brush to go over as much of the surface as possible and finally rinse w/a very hot water. Repeat if necessary.
Hello, I hope this helps you out. If you can remove it then you can soak it in a bath tub. If not, you can wet it down with a solution of 1 part white vinegar and 2 parts water, let it sit on the grill for about 5 minutes, re apply if it looks like it is drying. Use a microfiber cloth to wipe at the grime, repeat until it is clean.
I just remove mine and let is soak in the kitchen sink in some bleach and water. After about an hour take it out and rinse it off and replace.
