How do I get rust stains off bamboo countertop?

I wiped down the counter before going on vacation and unfortunately placed a coffee can on it. I have tried to get the ring out with salt, lemon, baking soda. What is your suggestion?

Try Barkeeper's Friend, a very light abrasive cleaner. If that doesn't work, you may need to lightly sand it by hand. Then look for a sealer for the countertop. Bamboo is very easy to stain, scratch, etc. When used for flooring, I have read lots of horror stories of how easy it is to damage, stain, wear, etc. Best of luck.

BarKeepers friend might work but be careful about how long you leave it on. It contains oxalic acid I believe. I would test it on some hidden area to see what it does to the bamboo. What was the original finish on the bamboo, Some tops are just treated with mineral oil, which should be scrubbed down and recoated regularly.

Try Whink. It's a coppery color bottle in the cleaning section at Lowes, Home Depot, Wal Mart. Follow the directions. I've used it on clothes before to remove rust stains with no ill effects.
