Decorating a venue with string lights

My daughter's 15th birthday is coming up and we need ideas of how to decorate the stone columns seen in pictures with string lights. There are electrical outlets at each column

Try using Velcro. One side that is sticky can be termporarily attached to the stone (discreetly) and tight loops around the string lights. Attach to the Velcro on stone.

Patricia, your idea is much more "doable" and probably the best way to go. However, borrowing ideas from HGTV, swagging lights from the center out would look magical with the lights dimmed.

Also, the venue itself should have suggestions, and even pictures with what has been used in the past

You can hang sheer white fabric with the string lights behind it - it will illuminate and look so pretty - I found a link to the idea in referring to here: http://www.abovetheresteventdesigns.com/wp-content/uploads/Wedding-lights.jpg Hope that helps!

My friend bought a bolt of white netting, swagged it, wrapped poles with it, then put the lights on. It was magical and not too terribly expense.
