this isn't decoupage. Decoupage is cutting of many pieces of paper, this is a piece of paper glued to a toilet lid. Yes you can do this; looks like if you watch the video, you can find out how. If you do mean traditional decoupage I would not advise it. Too much work. I think what you want is like the old fashioned fabric lid covers but done in paper is that right?

I am thinking yes, but it would have to be able to hold up to a lot of use, a lot of cleaning and a lot of humidity in the bathroom. So I would consider a special sealant maybe made for outdoor use (waterproof) or heavily used items. Maybe even a polyurethane type of sealant, don't you think?

Cool idea, I'd love to see how it comes out- please do share it on Hometalk :) we're rooting for you!!!

  • I would decoupage like you would normally do, then once it's dry, I would use a strong poly to cover it so you could wash it and it would stand up to daily use, etc.

  • Adding a unique touch to your bathroom decor can be achieved by decoupaging a toilet seat. assemble your supplies, such as the decoupage glue and ornamental paper. If desired, lightly sand the seat after properly cleaning it. Using decoupage adhesive, cut the materials to size and smooth out any creases before attaching them to the seat. Before applying additional layers of glue or varnish to seal the seat, let the adhesive completely dry. When it's dry, replace the seat for a chic and distinctive bathroom makeover!
