I would like to know if it would be possible to take the down feathers from several toss pillows and to use them for another larger pillow? And how would I accomplish this?

Yes you can! Decide on what size new pillow you wish to have. Either purchase or make a plain pillow cover that zips closed. Open up a seam on each of the old pillows and remove the down. Stuff it into the new casing and secure closed. Now you have a new insert for a decorative cover. To make things easy, you can purchase the decorated cover first and then decide how much down you need to stuff into the new insert. Easy recycle...good luck!

I used to have my grandmothers "feather ticker" it looked like a vacuum cleaner but apparently it sucked the feathers out and could then blow them back into a new case. I never had the chance to use it, my brother agreed to store it for me and I never got it back. To answer your question...yes you can as described above, it is messy as the feathers never want to go where you want them to! Have fun and enjoy!

Thank you Liza, now I know what I should be looking for!!! I try to work outside with feathers--the birds will gather the feathers for their nests. Feathers are almost impossible to vacuum--much like soot !!!
