You can buy table protection pads - but if not - Cardboard or Polystyrene sheet +Plastic Tablecloth
For heat resistance you will need a barrier.
I would cut a wood panel the size of the table ( sand edges, paint finish -glue on vinyl to your needs and requirements) and attach felt on the reverse side.
Cover with tablecloth.
