How can I get an 8x10 seagrass rug to lie flat on floor?

I bought this rug at estate sale and it had been rolled up and folded for a period of time before I bought it. I am afraid that folding the rug has stretched the fibers beyond springing back. Rug has a foam back.

Try dampening the fibers and roll it up the opposite way. Put it outside in the heat. Maybe that will straighten it out some. Just make sure you check it frequently since it would be damp, that it doesn't start to mildew.

Dampen it and try ironing it as well. You could also try taking it to the laundromat and then bringing it home damp and hanging it.

Try laying in backwards to make it lay flat. Maybe that will work.

I am afraid to wet it because it has a thin layer of foam rubber on the back and it is 8 x 10 in size...not that manageable,
