What a challenge.....Retro pine hutch that had turned orangish from thick shellac. I thought i could just sand and paint this massive piece......lol. I found out different after painting two coats and started to sand lightly and the paint come peeling off in areas. OMG what was I going to do???.....I didnt have time to completely strip it. I have a full time job of 30 yrs and do this on the side for clients and friends. I took my Dewalt sander and went to town sanding those places to bare wood that were peeling. Stepped back and looked.....I think I like the wild distressing. I added some dry brushed black paint randomly all over her. Stained it with Rustoleum Barn red over GF Rembrant Red paint.....Boom! What a color combo.....it Popped!
Sanded lightly and painted......run into major problems that I had to fix which lead to my wild transformation of this Hutch
Heavily sanded to distress and stained and poly.
Suggested materials:
  • General finishes Rembrant red paint and rustoleum barn red stain   (Amazon.com and creative corner)
