If the parquet flooring has been installed correctly then it is glued down onto a subfloor. I have first hand experience with this. The adhesive is designed to penetrate into all the tiny wooden components of a parquet piece, to secure it down for permanence. Unfortunately there is no quick, easy or cheap way to remove it. The process is a huge job, similar to removing tiles.
If you want to lighten the dark color to blend in more with the new tiles, then an easy option would be to purchase a light colored area rug.

You can also lighten it by sanding and whitewashing with a white wood stain and sealing with a non-yellowing clear finish.
If you can afford to---I would suggest you do the same tile in your family room. You can always warm it up w/an area rug if need be---that's what I did with my parquet floor. The flow is consistent and it makes your rooms look larger. Good luck what ever you decide.
You may be able to have he floor refinished to a lignter shade, but it will be expensive and it will still be a parquet floor next to tile. I think the scale of the tile makes the parquet look tiny and busy. Would you consider sanding it down and painting it? It could go a long way to making the floors look more cohesive.
