How can I control blind mosquitos?

Jeanne
by Jeanne
I retired and moved to Florida. I live by a lake. We get a lot of blind mosquitos. I don't like using chemical sprays. I don't want to hurt the wild life. Looking for ideas that are natural. Maybe plants or spray made with natural resources.

not sure what BLIND Mosquitos are... but you can get a product called "DUNKS" this is what I found on-line:

""a highly specific biological pesticide, this product represent a major breakthrough for people and the environment when compared with the traditional toxic chemical approach to mosquito control. Will NOT harm people, pets, wildlife or fish"" you can try that... or

keep the water MOVING - with a fountain or pump etc. - mosquitos cannot breed in moving water - they need STILL water- like a pond! nooooo!

    GOOD LUCK

Will they allow you to help stock the lake? There are several varieties of fish that eat the larvae. Blind mosquitos are especially attracted to light colors or to light itself at night. Keep them off of you house by closing your blinds at night and only turn your porch lights on as needed. Use yellow bulbs.

Listerine and water spray, or even better- peppermint essential oil/water spray (I use a fine mist) can keep an area bug free. Works on mosquitos and other bugs.
