What color is your house Georgette? Is your trim different than your house color? You can paint it the same as your trim or you can find a color that coordinates with both your trim and the color of your house. My house is a gray green with white for the trim. I have stained my decks a light gray that coordinates with the green and white.
Go with either a gray or beige, medium tone, whichever works best with your house color. These colors will show dirt and footprints less than others.
If it's wooden, you might consider staining over painting. This will be much less maintenance in the long run.
I agree with Kathy on the idea of using stain instead of paint. The stain will last A LOT longer than a paint. After you choose to stain or paint make sure you go back over it with a heavy duty polyurethane - that will help both last as long as possible.
Georgette: you don't say if the porch is wood or concrete --- tat would make a difference! If it's concrete and subject to getting wet -- you may want an outdoor paint with anti-slip properties.
Our front porch is painted blue like our front door. Our side porch floor is painted green since that is the color scheme there. Our back deck is painted gray but it is time to jazz that up! Our house is painted white.
Use a color that coordinates with your home. I agree with others about staining over painting. Paint will always peel and much more labor intensive to remedy. Stain just fades over time and much easier to refresh when needed. Might be something to consider.
I would go with whatever color blends best with your house color, trim color, and furniture. One needed bit of information would be what is your porch made of wood, trex type material, metal, concrete...? If you do paint, consider adding something to the paint to make it a non-slip porch, it is an additive made from Behr. Glidden makes a non slip paint.
Here's a link on the additive:

How about a dark grey floor paint?
I would match it to the color of your house
Our front stoop was a beige/tan rather light. Looked OK until we installed a dark paver walkway and then repainted the house. First tried gray/green tone similar to the house paint, it was yuck. Then went to a brown that was used on the fascia trim and it looked pretty good.
Bottom line you may need to try a couple things until you like how it all comes together.
A gray always looks nice for a porch floor but really it depends on the color of your house exterior and the front door color too.
