How can I fix drywall on a high ceiling?
We have a chandelier that you can raise and lower with a light switch, the other day I lowered it, then went to raise it, which is suppose to stop on its own, and it didn't, the light went up ( and up is way up like 50 ft. ) causing it to break around the drywall ceiling, with it being so high. Does anyone know how to fix ceiling drywall?

If you can get a scissor lift for that height, someone can stand on it and do the work, if tied down for safety and if drywall ceiling use a drywall patch or in Mortar patch and flat trowel just follow directions on package. Then sand smooth and re-paint the whole ceiling or you will see the patch Job. Use a flat ceiling paint or semi gloss. fix your chandelier after painting first coat then sand whole ceiling and apply second coat. or you have to use scaffolding,It can be a big job? What ever you do, remember your safety above all! Get expert advice! I was a painter thing's change.
Wow! Sounds like you live in a castle! I would love ceilings half that height. Ken is right, and if it were me, I would seek out a professional.
Having years of home building experience, I would get some scaffolding that assembles on site. BUT, with that height I don't advise any DIY/novice to tackle the job. Get a professional. They have the equipment to do the job safely. And keep your feet firmly planted on the ground =:)
I have done a lot of Sheetrock work and with the height and around an electrical/chandelier, I would spend the money and have a professional fix it. Make sure he is license/insured. So sorry.
Unfortunate, but it is a professiona job. Instead of patch work, i would consider having them install a fixture plate large enough to prevent this possiby happening in the future.
