How can I fix corroded ceiling light sockets?

Seems water has leaked in from the roof to the ceiling, rendering ceiling light sockets useless. HELP

  • For safety reasons, I would replace them, provided you have fixed the leak first.

    Turn off breaker to the room or Rome, pull down socket, unwire Remeberinge your wires.. or use tape and lable them. Replace with new socket... .. YOU CAN DO THIS!

    If you need help with this I would bet A tutorial is available on YouTube. The leak must be repaired as water and electricity do not mix!

    will have to be replaced -- assume you have found/repaired the leak? no point in doing anything to the wiring issue until you are assured that it will stay dry!

    1st step is to cut the electricity off to those sockets!!! rewiring is not difficult --- you'll need new sockets, new connectors. Most electrical supply houses will be able to provide you with the specific items you wil need.

    Fix the leak. Turn off the electricity then replace the ceiling light sockets. Are they those "can" type ceiling lights? You can buy replacement ones in big box stores.
