Acyrlic latex paintable caulk. a couple of tubes should cost around $5.00
I agree with Bullslugg. Putty tends to dry out over time, isn't flexible, and will crack. A small bead of caulk and smooth out with a wet finger.
Caulk! Works every time
Have the same problem on bathroom cabinets I painted last year though I didn't use putty or caulk on the seams at the time. I read that wood is going to contract and expand especially with fluctuations in humidity. Take a razor blade and clean out that cracked paint, gently sand and very carefully with small brush reapply the paint just to that area. If that doesn't work I'll try paintable caulk but I'm notorious for over applying that and creating a mess!
