How to repair Roof Ridge vent screen section?

My roof has Ridge vents that allow air to circulate through the attic from eaves to ridge cap. A small part of the screen/wire mesh of the Ridge vent is missing or has a hole in it. This allows a little bit of debris from trees (i.e.: pine straw and leaves) to get in to attic.

Is there a way to repair that wire mesh material? If so what is the most cost efficient way. Thank you in advance for any help.

scrap of hardware cloth should work. it's the stuff that has little boxes looking mesh. some places will cut from a bulk roll, or have a pre cut screen patch.

Thanks Dfm. That's a good idea. Can use the wires left from cutting to attach it to existing still intact wire mesh I suspect. Fingers crossed.

You can get some wire mesh fence fabric, Form it to the ridge vent and friction fit it in place.
