Electric Water Heater Beeping

Thomas
by Thomas
Our electric water heater is in the laundry room/closet. This morning, my wife and I noticed it was making a beeping sound. I shut the power off to the water heater to confirm, and the beeping stopped.

I've been searching online and found sites claiming that the noise could be a warning for everything from a leak, to a faulty pressure sensor, to overheating due to faulty elements, to high pressure. What the beeping means seems to depend on the make and model. This is a State water heater, model ES6-40-DOLNS-G. I have found the original manual on the State website, but it did not have any mention of beeps/alarms that might be heard.

Has anyone else had this issue, perhaps specifically with a State brand product?

We have never heard this, though is there a 1-800 number to call, and ask this question? If so, write down the model number, and have this handy, as well as the date of purchase, in case they ask these questions, ok? Best wishes, and be sure you can keep this in the closet, where there is clothes, and other items. Perhaps it needed more air, to circulate. Good luck in this matter, and let us know the final results. J.

A water heater shutoff will sound a beep when water is leaking from the heater. This flood prevention device will shut the water off and keep your floors dry.

I thought the one at my house was but it turns out it was the CO2 reader, it needed a new battery. We had to pay $125 for a service call we didn't need and used our own battery. If anyone else has that problem check the CO2 reader first.

If you're unable to determine the cause of the beeping or if you suspect a serious issue, it's a good idea to consult a professional plumber or technician. They can diagnose the problem accurately and provide appropriate solutions.

We were also fooled by the CO detector, the batteries were low and needed replacing, called the hot water heater company to come and evaluate the hot water heater, we needed a new 1 because the water in it was cold. Did the usual trouble shooting and it was dead. It was a coincidence the CO alarm went off. The crazy part of this was the and company sent a technician to do the evaluation and of course he had a CO reader unit, he made the mistake of doing a calculation and multiplying the reading by 1,000...or 2.0 X 1,000=2,000, everyone in the house would be dead with a reading like that! They brought in an experienced technician who re-did the testing and replaced the hot water heater.

For your hot water heater, check the CO detector, if it is not that, call in a professional.
