How to turn an old singer sewing machine into a powder room vanity.

Are you wanting an above-counter vessel style sink, an integrated one-piece sink and countertop, or a conventional drop-in sink?

A vessel/bowl style will not require any cutting down into the countertop, other than the one hole for the faucet.

I am aiming for a vessel style sink. thank you so much to all! it's my first attempt at something like this. I have the machine cabinet emptied and varnished with a marine grade clear to help with the water. i'm just stalled because i'm nervous about cutting the holes. i need one hole for the sink and one for the faucet. Plumbing will also be a challenge. I have faith that the "hometalkers" will get me through!

    1. A vessel sink should have a template to cut the hole. If yours doesn't put the basin on the table and outline the hole to cut.
    2. Make sure that your faucet will fit in -- before you cut (and again should have a template) behind or beside your basin.
    3. The plumbing water lines are easy since you already have the pieces from the old sink. Test those to make sure they fit on the new. If not take the new faucet to the plumbing store and let them help you out with fittings.
    4. The pipe on the original may not fit on the new basin. That's okay; use a flex plastic pipe. There are kits! Just ask the plumbing store how to connect and they will give you the pvc cleaner and glue and will probably show you how.

    Good luck.
