Ideas for clean furnace filters

I have some unused furnace filters. One is 16” x 16”. Four are 16” x 20”. These can’t be recycled in my city, so they would just go to the landfill. They are flimsy, with thin cardboard frames, but I can’t buy any wood or frames. I’m on a spending diet. I really want to make something out of these. Any ideas?

Donate to Good will or a thrift shop. Also if you live in a neighborhood ask around.

You can make air cleaners with them. I first seen them in a local pet shop. Attach one to the intake side of a box fan and turn it on. It will collect the dust and pollens in the air.

Yes the back side would be the intake side. I was thinking of even trying this next summer when I put a fan in the window blowing into the house to help keep down some of the pollen coming in.
