  • The Mirman School Amphitheater, Streams, Plants and Pond...a little slice of heaven on Earth in the hills above Los Angeles. This inspiring location is used for classes, theater and many other activities by the students & faculty. 1

Ponds, Streams, Pondless Waterfeatures, Planting, Lighting, Irrigation, Stonework & Drainage

This is a view from the Mirman School Amphitheater down towards the main pond. The final 100' of stream can be seen along the pathway below. There are @300,000 lbs. of local sandstone in this project!

It took 3 summers of hard work to manifest this DreamScape. I poured my heart into this one ...»

  • My latest Pondless Waterfeature in Los Angeles. We selected the darkest granite available for this little project and matched it with flat quartzite stone. We wanted to create the feel of crystal veins running throughout the stones.

Pondless Waterfeatures

Pondless Waterfeatures are SUPER easy to maintain. The pit at the bottom holds the water when the falls are turned off. Then if theres ever dirty water, we quickly pump it out (often watering local plants) and refill it. The best thing about pondless waterfalls is that you don't have to run them all day.

Rooftop Gardens

I am fascinated by rooftop gardening. I took these pictures in a while back and have been meaning to post them here for a while. These were taken on a rooftop in Soho.

Awesome and inspiring! I would LOVE to create a naturalistic waterfeature on one of those ...»
rooftops! You could sit up there and the waterfalls would drown out (most of) the city sounds.

Cleaning out invasive pond plants.

Once a year around this time, we remove any unwanted overgrowth of the invasive plants here at the Mirman School streams and pond.

For some plants, once they're established there is no getting them out entirely. Consistent ...»
managing is needed, but once you get a handle on things its pretty easy, and fun!
