  • Tree Candelabra with 3 candleholders-naked and bare. Before project began.
  • My seashell collection from Panama City Beach, FL. Arranged according to size so I could selected same sizes to match.
  • Day One: Painted shells bronze and metallic blue and hot glued to the candleholders.

Metal candle candelabra (aka: candle tree with mulitiple arms) to be decorated with my seashell collection from FL.

The base candelabra is white with branches & leaves with antiqued gold on the ends. I separated my shells in order of size. I knew I wanted some white, blues, and bronze or gray colors to ...»

  • Found at Goodwill 7/22/12
Cost $25.00
  • Sanded and going on with the
first coat of paint to match my
bedroom.
  • Several coats of paint in the blistering
heat of the day. The upside was, it dried
super fast while I was getting a tan.
Added stenciling in bronze and sanded lightly
to give a slight distressed look.

You're welcome. I'd love to visit again. It's one of the few places we've lived that we both ...»
hated leaving. Family has a way of pulling you home. God knew what he was doing since I spent the last seven years of my Mom's life and last thirteen of my Dad's close to them. I'll never regret it.

The beginning of my garden cupola

Cleared a large circled area and turned over the dirt and added soil conditioners. Have now planted 13 cannas bulbs (can not see) and staked out a small circle to use as a guide for my ...»

Metal shelving to garden rack

Had this old rack and was storing paint and junk. Needed a new purpose!!!

And I needed some small project I could finish in a few hours. My front yard has no gardening area. All potted plants. See my end results

  • Before the project started
  • Changed the blue to a much lighter version- Light satin blue with a calming effect.

Small bedroom turned into my dream bath-Lightened the color, tile selection-stained floors and a whirlpool tub

This was a small un-used bedroom-This bath area was a big plus-it allowed enough room for walk in closet and nice walk way into the rest room area. Luv my new bath!!!

Jeannette S- You are exactly right. My bathroom and closet were extremely small for today's ...»
living. I love my old house, my old hardwood floors but wanted more room. My new bath was painted blue and white, another blue color tile and accents were with Florida sand & seashells. Had 2 large windows that I installed wide plastic blinds due to moisture from the whirlpool.

  • 2nd & 3rd coat poly on 7/20/12.
 LQQK at that shine
I let the first coat dry well over a month. Finally
got back with a better poly this time. Use MiniWax
Super Fast Drying & able to walk on it in 3 hours.
I applied 3rd coat same day
  • Before the stain 6/02/12- I sanded alot in soiled areas
the applied bleach to the stain- Would NOT recommend
to anyone else.
  • After the stain & poly 06/04/12- the floor stayed
tacky after about 3-4 days UGH !! Not fast enough
for my liking. Was MiniWax Fast-Drying- Clear Gloss
Changing on the next application-Needs to cure faster

Refinishing 60 year old hardwood floors

Lots of soiled spots that had to be coarse sanded and still didn't remove completely. After the polyurethane it all blended together pretty well. The wood was age but in excellent ...»

I would have thought using bleach would have raised the grain. Maybe that's why it soaked the ...»
stain up so quickly. I wonder if applying a light coat of sealer in the area you bleached might have "soothed" the wood before you put the stain on??? If there's a next time. . . . .LOL

Trellis in my yard

This redwood stained trellis added so much character to my back yard. So many options, I have already hung windchimes, cannas, and my cast iron chiminena ? thinking maybe to add fabric

on all four corners.
