Wind Turbine Light Fixture

Instead of paying hundreds of dollars for a vintage wind turbine fan turned into a light fixture, I made my own with supplies from Lowe's.

Quilt Calendar

Don't stash that old, stained quilt away! Get it out and use it as a calendar! When it's under glass in a frame, you can write on it with a dry erase marker over and over again.

  • Customize your lantern by carving pumpkin faces or shapes.
  • I used my lantern outside under a covered porch as well as inside over my kitchen table.
  • Embroidery hoops inside the pumpkins gave the chain something to hook on to.

Hanging Pumpkin Lantern

Cut an opening in the top of artificial pumpkins, add embroidery hoops and lightweight chain, pop in some battery powered lights, and you've got a hanging pumpkin lantern!

  • I use this photo display to hang my Instagram shots with small clothespins. It's quick and easy to change them out for the seasons.
  • Old railroad nails were used to hold the jute hanger.
  • I used my woodburning tool to add a quote from an old hymn at the bottom.

Scrap Wood Photo Display

Scrap wood was stained with vinegar and steel wool to age it, then jute was strung between old railroad nails to make a display board for photos.

  • I love that the fenceposts are original to our farm. They were here long before we were, and now they're getting a new life instead of going to the trash pile.

Vintage Door Headboard

I attached an old door, complete with chipping and peeling paint, to some old fenceposts to make a new headboard for my guest room.

Bathroom Vanity from a Wall Cabinet

My husband and I turned a salvaged wall cabinet into a vanity for our powder bath. We used a drop-in hammered copper sink and added plumbing pipe for legs and a storage shelf. http://threescoopsoflove.blogspot.com/2012/...
