  • I wanted a very old and rustic looking birdbath so I tried something new. I mounded up garden earth and chips of shredded mulch. I allowed the cement to drip off the edges of the castor bean leaf. I am very happy with the results.
  • Here I used an elephant ear. You can see where the leaf shrunk and left a border around the edge. This will be good when I apply the stain after the cement has cured properly.
  • Items needed; tarp, sand, gloves, cement, plastic bag, shovel and something to mix the cement in, I prefer a wheelbarrow.
  • Lay the tarp, mound your sand, cover with a plastic bag, and lay your leaf face down. Mound the leaf with your cement mixture being sure it is thicker in the middle and tapers toward the leaf edges. Cover with tarp for 48 hrs.

Home Maintenance & Repairs: broken piece of porcelain off toliet!!!

I wanted to know if their is any kind of glue or adhesive that would hold a piece of porcelain that I broke off of the toliet bowl and that piece has one of the screws that go into the ...»
water tank??? The bowl is not cracked and either is the tank...I was changing the screws in the water tank to brass and had diffculty getting one screw lose so I got my vise gripe which held the screw in place but I turned it to hard and broke that piece off with the screw still attached...I cut the screw off but now I would like to reattach that piece of porcelain back to the bowl instead of putting my money down the toliet!! HA! HA! But really any one know of any thing that would hold that piece of Porcelain to the bowl and then be able to support the water tank full???? If not I guess I will be buying a new Throne!!!!! Thanks

  • That drill/driver isn't big enough, I need more power! I don't think so Tim! These compact drill/drivers pack more of a punch than you might think. Check out what this real user thought: http://bit.ly/wZF0LT 4
  • Everyone dreams of owning a giant cabinet saw, but not everyone has the room or the budget (or loves their fingers too much). Check out what this user thought about something a little more accommodating: http://bit.ly/ArMdNV 12
  • Running out of room in your shop? This miter saw takes the space of a compound miter saw, yet still gets the cutting capacity of a sliding rail miter saw. Check out what this contractor thought: http://bit.ly/wz8Wdh 6
  • Tackling any projects with multiple materials? A twin blade circular saw is a great solution allowing you to cut without switching blades. Watch it in use: http://bit.ly/yOvtYw 1

Gardening: My Hydrangeas!

My hydrangeas have all bloomed except my endless summer...The purple one that is my profile picture on hometalk concerns me as the leaves have come back after cutting the blooms and are ...»
small, few, the plant is not full of leaves and alot of the leaves start out green then brown comes on them and they become crumbly around the edges of the leaves...Next to the purple one I have a limelight that is wild and I have got to move it because it takes over the area...Next to the limelight I have an endless summer that is blooming but some of its leaves have brown on them as well...Next to that one I have a blue Hydrange...Do you think they have a disease on them????

Thanks, Shirley

Repurposing & Upcycling: Here is a challenge for all you Hometalkers. At a yard sale I bought an old portable potty, solid oak.

Any suggestions what I can do with it, I just couldn't not bring it home. It was used as a low side table - what a waste.
