  • Remove all hardware and hinges. New hinges are a small investment but make a huge difference.
  • Sand down doors and drawers.
  • Primer and paint. I did use the combo and it worked so well. These only needed 2 coats.
  • Add hardware and rehang doors.
  • Love!

Updating bathroom cabinets

Since I'm staying at home, buying new cabinets and sinks is out of the question. We were dealing with white counter tops, taupe sinks and white tile with grey streaks. Knowing I needed to ...»
keep the taupe sinks and tile, I found a dark grey from Behr that complimented the sinks and tile.

This color would be the color of the cabinets and an accent stripe on the wall. I was nervous about painting the cabinets but let me tell you...it was so easy.

I'm itching to redo all of them in the house.

  • Cracked and smashed China, pieces of mirror and stained glass, hide an ugly air conditioning unit.

Mosaic Screen to hide Air Conditioner

When we built a new side yard patio, the location of our air conditioner was less than ideal. So I smashed old plates, cut up old mirror and pieces of stained glass, to make a two sided mosaic screen that picks up the colors of the surrounding hostas.

The cream colored grout is sealed, old fence posts were used as the ends and the whole thing is movable in case we have to get at the air conditioner. It's much nicer to look at than the grey turbine.

Make a Faceted Mercury Glass Bowl for the Holidays

I turned some cheap patterned glass bowls, that I got at a yard sale, into gorgeous Mercury Glass for my Holiday displays! I've got the full tutorial on my blog.

  • Paint your ceiling first, wrapping the corner. Take your ubiquitous 5-in-1's back edge and gently score a mark.

  • Just use the corner as the naturally flowing guide.
  • Using a 3 inch brush loaded with paint, just cover the line. 3
  • Viola, this little trick will make even a coffee lover's line look good.
